Job Summary

Join our Food Services team at the Fortress Louisbourg Association as a Prep Cook and help deliver a high-quality culinary experience in a unique and historic setting. This position supports our kitchen operations by preparing ingredients and assisting the culinary team in creating meals for our guests. It is ideal for someone with a passion for food and interest in gaining kitchen experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning food items.
  • Assist chefs with basic food preparation during daily service and events.
  • Label and store food properly according to safety guidelines.
  • Ensure prep stations and kitchen areas remain clean, sanitized, and organized.
  • Monitor inventory of ingredients and report shortages to the kitchen supervisor.
  • Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
  • Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Attributes

  • Previous kitchen experience is an asset but not required.
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and detail.
  • Ability to follow directions and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Reliable transportation to the Fortress of Louisbourg.
  • Food Handler certification is an asset.
