The Cafe Attendant greets customers, takes and prepares orders, serves food and beverages, processes payments, and maintains a clean and organized caf\u00e9 space. This role requires strong attention to detail, efficiency, and professionalism while contributing to a welcoming and positive visitor experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take customer orders accurately and prepare food and beverages efficiently.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serve food and drinks promptly while ensuring quality standards are met.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accurately process transactions using a cash register and Square POS system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain cleanliness and organization of the caf\u00e9 area, including tables, counters, equipment, and dishwashing as required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restock supplies and monitor inventory levels as directed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure food and beverages are stored and prepared according to health and safety standards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist with opening and closing procedures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Answer basic questions about the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, including general history and daily programming.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cross-promote other Fortress Louisbourg Association offerings, including King\u2019s Bakery, gift shops, tavern, and special events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow workplace health and safety guidelines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wear and properly maintain period-appropriate costumes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications and Attributes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Previous experience in a caf\u00e9 or restaurant environment preferred.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong customer service skills with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic math skills and experience handling cash and electronic payments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>WHMIS and Occupational Health &amp; Safety certification (or willingness to obtain).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reliable transportation to the Fortress of Louisbourg.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>French language skills are an asset, but not required.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Start Date:\u00a0June 28, 2026End Date: August 29, 2026Wage:\u00a0$17.00\/HourHours:\u00a0Seasonal Full-time (37.5 hours per week) Job Summary The Cafe Attendant is a member of the Food Services team responsible for delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced caf\u00e9 environment.
