Job Summary
Join our team at the Fortress Louisbourg Association and be part of an unforgettable dining experience! We are seeking friendly and professional individuals to work as Restaurant Workers/Servers in our historic tavern and restaurant. This position is ideal for students or anyone looking for a unique and engaging summer job.
As a Server, you will play a key role in ensuring guests enjoy their dining experience by greeting them warmly, taking orders, delivering food and drinks promptly, and handling payments. You’ll also wear period costumes and help bring history to life while maintaining a clean and organized dining area.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and seat guests in a timely and friendly manner.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
- Provide menu recommendations and beverage pairings based on guest preferences.
- Deliver food and drinks promptly while ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
- Process orders and payments using a cash register and Square POS system.
- Maintain cleanliness in the dining room, including tables, chairs, and floors.
- Assist with setting up and cleaning down the dining room before and after service.
- Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation.
- Wear and maintain the 18th-century costume.
- Answer basic questions about the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, including general history and the schedule of experiences.
- Cross-promote other Fortress Louisbourg Association experiences, including King’s Bakery, gift shops, and virtual reality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Previous experience in the food and beverage industry is an asset but not required.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and adhere to health and safety standards.
- Willingness to wear and maintain historical costumes.
- Reliable transportation to the Fortress of Louisbourg.
- French language skills are an asset but not required.
