Job Summary
The Fortress Louisbourg Association is excited to relaunch our Children’s and Apprentice Program with a completely revamped curriculum, while staying true to the beloved experiences that thousands of children have enjoyed over the years.
As a Camp Counselor, you will work with groups of children aged 5 to 12, providing an enriching and immersive learning experience about the life of a child at the Fortress of Louisbourg in 1744. You’ll guide campers through engaging activities, historical interpretation, and interactive learning, all while wearing period costumes.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise groups of children between the ages of 5 and 12.
- Deliver a quality learning experience based on the provided curriculum of activities.
- Follow a daily schedule to ensure a well-organized and enriching program.
- Set up and clean up daily activities and materials.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards, including daily mopping and regular cleaning of camp areas.
- Serve as a point of contact for parents and guardians regarding the Children’s and Apprentice Program.
- Perform historical animation while in costume, engaging campers and visitors alike.
- Maintain a general knowledge of the Fortress of Louisbourg’s history (training will be provided).
Qualifications and Attributes
- A secondary school diploma is required.
- Clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Word and Excel.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and a willingness to adapt to change.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
