This position supports our kitchen operations by preparing ingredients and assisting the culinary team in creating meals for our guests. It is ideal for someone with a passion for food and interest in gaining kitchen experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning food items.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist chefs with basic food preparation during daily service and events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Label and store food properly according to safety guidelines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure prep stations and kitchen areas remain clean, sanitized, and organized.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor inventory of ingredients and report shortages to the kitchen supervisor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications and Attributes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Previous kitchen experience is an asset but not required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and detail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to follow directions and work in a fast-paced environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good communication and teamwork skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reliable transportation to the Fortress of Louisbourg.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food Handler certification is an asset.<\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Start Date:\u00a0May 31, 2026End Date: September 26, 2026Wage:\u00a0$18.00\/HourHours:\u00a0Seasonal Full-time (37.5 hours per week) Job Summary Join our Food Services team at the Fortress Louisbourg Association as a&nbsp;Prep Cook&nbsp;and help deliver a high-quality culinary experience in a unique and historic setting.
