This role is essential to positioning the Association for long-term financial sustainability and expanded community impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In late 2025, a third-party strategic plan for fundraising and membership development was completed. The Consultant will assist in validating priorities, refining financial targets, and implementing key recommendations from that plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Key Responsibilities<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fundraising Strategy &amp; Implementation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Validate and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with FLA\u2019s mission and strategic priorities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify, research, and cultivate individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and grant opportunities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support the development and execution of annual fundraising campaigns, sponsorship programs, and donor appeals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop donor recognition and stewardship strategies to improve retention and long-term engagement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review and validate fundraising targets established in the strategic plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Membership Development &amp; Engagement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assess the current membership program and recommend improvements to structure, benefits, and pricing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop strategies to increase member recruitment, retention, and participation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support outreach initiatives to grow local, regional, and national membership.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify meaningful engagement opportunities that connect members to the mission and programming of FLA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Communications &amp; Stakeholder Engagement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assist with donor- and member-focused communications, including newsletters, impact updates, and digital campaigns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support storytelling initiatives that clearly communicate the Association\u2019s economic, cultural, and heritage impact.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with Board members, volunteers, and community partners to advance fundraising objectives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Reporting &amp; Capacity Building<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Establish and track fundraising and membership performance metrics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide regular progress reports to the General Manager and Board.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recommend improvements to systems, policies, and procedures related to fundraising and membership administration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support capacity-building efforts to strengthen the Association\u2019s long-term development function.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Qualifications &amp; Experience<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Demonstrated experience in fundraising, development, and\/or membership programs, preferably within nonprofit, cultural, or heritage organizations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proven success in donor cultivation, sponsorship development, and relationship management.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience designing or implementing fundraising campaigns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong strategic thinking, organizational, and analytical skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience working with boards and volunteer-led organizations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with Canadian charitable fundraising practices is an asset.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Personal Attributes<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strong interest in history, heritage, culture, and community development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strategic, proactive, and results-oriented.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborative and comfortable working in a small nonprofit environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professional, ethical, and respectful of confidential information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Start Date:\u00a0May 4, 2026End Date: August 28, 2026Wage:\u00a0Commensurate with experienceHours:\u00a0Seasonal Full-time (37.5 hours per week)*** Position contingent upon receipt of external funding support Position Overview The Fortress Louisbourg Association (FLA) is seeking an experienced and strategic Fundraising &amp; Membership Consultant to strengthen and grow its philanthropic support and membership base.
