As a Counselor, you will work with groups of children aged 5 to 12, providing an enriching and immersive learning experience about the life of a child at the Fortress of Louisbourg in 1744. You\u2019ll guide children through engaging activities, historical interpretation, and interactive learning, all while wearing period costumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Supervise groups of children between the ages of 5 and 12.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deliver a quality learning experience based on the provided curriculum of activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow a daily schedule to ensure a well-organized and enriching program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set up and clean up daily activities and materials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards, including daily mopping and regular cleaning of camp areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serve as a point of contact for parents and guardians regarding the Children\u2019s and Apprentice Program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform historical animation while in costume, engaging children and visitors alike.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain a general knowledge of the Fortress of Louisbourg\u2019s history (training will be provided).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wear and properly maintain period-appropriate costumes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications and Attributes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A secondary school diploma is required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Word and Excel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong organizational abilities and a willingness to adapt to change.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Start Date:\u00a0June 24, 2026End Date: August 21, 2026Wage:\u00a0$17.25\/HourHours: Seasonal Full-time (37.5 hours per week) Job Summary The Fortress Louisbourg Association is excited to relaunch our Children\u2019s and Apprentice Program with a completely revamped curriculum, while staying true to the beloved experiences that thousands of children have enjoyed over the years.
