Job Summary
We are seeking reliable and hardworking Restaurant Workers to support kitchen and restaurant operations within our historic dining establishments. Reporting to the Food and Beverage Services Manager, the Restaurant Worker plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and operational efficiency in a fast-paced food service environment. This role supports both kitchen and dining room operations and contributes to delivering a high-quality dining experience for visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the dishwasher and ensure dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dishwashing area.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, portioning, and organizing ingredients.
- Support kitchen staff with general preparation duties as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen and back-of-house areas.
- Take out garbage and recycling as required.
- Assist with stocking and organizing supplies and equipment.
- Support opening and closing cleaning procedures.
- Provide general assistance to culinary and service staff as needed.
- Work collaboratively to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Previous experience in food service or a similar role is an asset but not required.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and organization.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from the culinary team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- WHMIS and Occupational Health & Safety certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Reliable transportation to the Fortress of Louisbourg.
