Job Summary
The Fortress Louisbourg Association (FLA) is seeking an organized, creative, and hands-on Events Coordinator to plan, deliver, and evaluate a portfolio of cultural, educational, and community events that enhance visitor experience and support regional tourism at the Fortress of Louisbourg.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Events Coordinator will lead the coordination and on-site execution of established FLA events and programs, working collaboratively with Parks Canada, staff, volunteers, and community partners. The role spans the full event lifecycle, including planning, promotion, delivery, and evaluation, and requires flexibility to support evening and weekend programming.
This position provides an opportunity to work both behind the scenes and on site in a unique heritage environment, contributing directly to engaging public experiences at one of Canada’s most significant historic sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Planning & Coordination
- Plan and coordinate FLA cultural, tourism, and community events and programs.
- Develop event plans, timelines, logistics, and operational checklists.
- Coordinate venues, permits, equipment, supplies, and vendors.
- Support development of event concepts, programming elements, and visitor experiences.
- Track ticket sales, attendance, and operational requirements.
- Event Delivery & Operations
- Lead on-site event setup, delivery, and teardown.
- Coordinate musicians, vendors, volunteers and event support staff.
- Ensure events run safely, efficiently, and according to plan.
- Troubleshoot operational issues during live events.
- Assist with site opening/closing procedures during programming.
- Marketing & Promotion Support
- Develop event content for website, social media, and promotional materials under supervision.
- Support event communications and outreach efforts.
- Assist with promotion of programs to visitors and partners.
- Monitoring & Evaluation
- Conduct post-event reviews and prepare written summaries.
- Track attendance, participant feedback, and operational outcomes.
- Recommend improvements to event delivery and visitor experience.
- Maintain event documentation and annual planning records.
- Team & Partnership Collaboration
- Work as part of the FLA events team and broader site team.
- Liaise with Parks Canada staff and community partners.
- Support a positive, professional environment for visitors and collaborators.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in event coordination, tourism programming, cultural programming, or community events.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
- Ability to manage logistics and multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Interest in heritage, culture, tourism, or historic sites.
- Familiarity with digital communications or social media is an asset.
- Basic French language ability is an asset.
