Members of the Fortress Louisbourg Association belong to all age groups from children and youths right up to retirees. They join the Fortress Louisbourg Association out of a love for history, an interest in preserving and promoting the Fortress of Louisbourg, and for the opportunity to participate in the animation programs. The re-enactors in our child and youth animation programs are the most visible of our members. Animation is not only a fun way to spend a summer but also a way to improve visitor experience and learn about history first hand. There are animation programs for children as young as five, youth apprenticeship programs in many 18th century trades, and a volunteer militia for military-minded adults.
Animation is not the only way Fortress Louisbourg Association members benefit the historic site. There are many members who work behind the scenes to promote the interests of the Fortress of Louisbourg, and still more who help with special events like the Grand Encampments.
