Fine dining never goes out of style. Rich merchants, landowners, and political figures of the 1740s converged at the L’Épée Royale for elegant cuisine and a comfortable atmosphere free of the lower class ruffians who plagued their daily lives. See what it was like to be wealthy and influential in 18th century Louisbourg by taking your repast in style at the reconstructed L’Épée Royale Restaurant.
In addition to dietary staples like bread, cheese and butter, you will sample the choicest roast meats, vegetables, wines, and desserts served by fully costumed wait staff. You’ll show off your good breeding and manners as you skillfully manipulate a full set of cutlery and bask in the New World ambiance created by our reproduction furniture, linens and décor.
L’Épée Royale is located on the corner of Rue Toulouse where it meets the Quay, near Frederic Gate. Simply stop in during your visit for service.

The town’s layout was a carefully laid-out plan with 45 blocks. Eleven of those blocks were eliminated when it was decided to continue the fortifications around the entire town. The Quayside blocks contained many storehouses, inns and taverns. Block 1 was reserved exclusively for major royal buildings. Most of the other blocks were a mixture of shops, homes and warehouses.
