Our 1744 Gift Boutique
Trade was the lifeblood of the Fortress of Louisbourg during the heyday depicted in our reconstruction. Fortunes were made and lost investing in trading ships and their cargoes coming back and forth from Europe, the West Indies and America. See what items were available to the citizens of 1744 or purchase a modern day reminder of your time there by visiting one of the 1744 Gift Boutiques.
We carry authentic replicas of 18th century toys and games, accurate period reproductions of pewter, porcelain and ceramic dishware, including Chinese Porcelain, and bars of the same American Heritage Chocolate that is used to such success in our Salon de Chocolat. We also have a large stock of modern gifts such as Louisbourg clothing for all ages, history books and DVDs, CDs of traditional French music, and small souvenir items like postcards, key chains, and our popular 18th century drummer teddy. For your convenience, we also sell walking sticks, rain ponchos, disposable cameras, and other essential items you may have forgotten to pack.
There are two gift boutique locations: one on the main floor of the Visitor’s Center and the Lartigue Gift Shop on Rue du Petit Etang inside the Fortress of Louisbourg.
We sell a selection of items in our online shop.
